I would like to preface this post by saying that I have absolutely 0 pictures from the first full day of our cruise, which was a day in Freeport. We were sorely disappointed to get off the ship only to be met by overly commercialized souvenir stands with products we've seen at the shops on Virginia Beach. Needless to say, it was more like the US, and there was nothing worthy of having its picture taken. We did eat local cuisine in Freeport. Seafood is a big part of the culture, as is a grecian influence. Devin ate lobster gyro, and I had crack conch. It was delicious!
Nassau was an entirely different place. It was definitely a city for the locals, not tourists. Devin and I took a historical bus tour. Within 5 minutes of driving, we were side swiped on a tiny one way street. The middle picture was shot through the bus window. You can see the sedan that hit us, and you can also see a van trying to drive around us on the curb. The drivers here are nuts! If you thought Utah traffic was bad, you haven't seen Nassau! Anyway, the police came and had us on our way quickly. The first picture was taken at the top of a site called the Queen's Staircase, and then I have pictures of Devin and me on the stairs. We also went to Fort Charlotte, and took pictures with the cannons. The beach was beautiful, and we of course got pictures on the beach. Unfortunately, it was on about 70*, so we didn't swim. I dipped under, because hey, it's the beach in the Bahamas; I had to!
